"Even as energy is wasted in idle talk and gossiping, so also energy is wasted in entertaining useless thoughts. Therefore, you should not waste even a single thought. Conserve all mental energy. Utilize it for higher spiritual purposes and for meditation and helpful service to humanity. Drive away from your mind all unnecessary, useless thoughts. Entertain only thoughts that are helpful and useful."
Comment. The most subtle way of wasting time is thinking unnecessary thoughts. You must have an ideal to follow, a kind of a plan to avert this habit and to create a new habit of cultivation of positive thoughts. Ask yourself, "Do I need to think about this now? Is this the best way to think about the situation?" Train your mind in constructive, positive thinking - thinking that is free from fear, worry, unwise suggestions, obsessive, of failure. This requires a constant daily training.
