Parzania A must see movie

Somini Sengupta writes in the IHT on the history of banning controversial movies by the government of India. Parzania is a must see movie about the Gujarat riots of 2002 and it's effects on a Parsi family living in Ahmedabad. Sarika and Naseerudin do an excellent job, playing the mother and father of Parzan, a 13 year old boy who disappears during a mob attack. This is based on a true story of Azhar Mody, who is still missing. Movies like this, Kaya Taran and Black Friday should be made mandatory for all Indian's to see, so they can have an accurate perspective on there history.

"Parzania" is set in Ahmedabad, the adopted hometown of Mohandas K. Gandhi and the center of much of the terror. The film offers an unflattering portrait of Gujarat's leaders and police officials. The ruling Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party was widely accused of turning a blind eye to the assaults on Muslims and then, 10 months later, was resoundingly re-elected in state elections. "Parzania" chillingly renders a savage mob attack.
