Comic Abstraction



Moma has an interesting exhibition on comic culture- Comic Abstraction. It looks at how artists have used popular media to question perplexing issues confronting societies and individuals in the last fifteen years.

The Brazilian artist Rivane Neuenschwander blotted out cartoons from Ze Carioca analyzes the politics of Walt Disney.

Juan Munoz, waiting for Jerry, has a scary soundtrack from the Cartoon Tom and Jerry. I remember always being scared of cartoons, now I know why, they dealt with life and death issues.
